Character design analysis #22

Awesome use of storytelling in this character design, everything here is some part of the environment that the character lives in and is used for some sort of function of the character. We can see for example the wings of birds on the legs of the figure which suggests he uses this as some sort of camouflage or something along those lines as it blends in well with the dark painted skin of the body. As we go up the body we are introduced to the coolest design element which is the skull of whatever bird that this figure killed that is strapped to his chest and hangs over his groin.

The skull also has the same red and yellowed white look that we also see repeated in the face and this is connected to his body over 3 portions acting to protect his chest and groin. As we go up we see the head is framed by what looks like pieces of fur used to create a head rest like shape that feels like its there to protect his neck and face against attacks from weaponry.

His face is bisected with two red circles that cover the eyes and cheeks and then we also see another skull of a different bird at the top of the head possibly the same bird that has the wings hanging down on his sides. In his hands we see a sword and shield, the sword itself has a cool design to it in the form of a curved blade on one end.

In terms of design principles the most commonly used elements is the wrappings around his body that is found everywhere from his legs to his arms and chest and the red painting found throughout. Outside of this we see that most of the detail of the design is saved for the fur surrounding his head which frames the rather simplistic two color portrait of the tribal figure.
