Aeon Flux "UTOPIA OR DEUTERANOPIA?" EPSIDOE ANALYSIS PART 3

As Aeon kicks him out of the room we get a story development as she holds him at gun point and we get a shot of Gildamere giving her the fabric he had stolen from Trevor previously, and they begin making out. We cut back to the camera men and see them alerting Trevor as he comes out of his secret chamber and he seems unphased but attentive to her romantic exploits with Gildamere. The show is full of these moments where sexuality just enters into the scenes without really any explanation as to why. It seems to just exude from Aeon and Trevor watches vicariously. Noting that "I think they are having fun at our expense soldier, let it go."

The next scene we get much like in previous scenes starts with a cut of the camera moving into position before we get a wideshot of Aeon in what looks like a hospital room with people laying in hospital beds on respirators all around her. She sits and waits for Gildamere. As gildamere enters into frame, we cut to trevor who looks attentive and as if he has been watching her this whole time. She stops him with her foot, andd then we see that trevor is controlling the camera behind them and begins to zoom in. Gildamere and Aeon knowing they are being watched begin to have a conversation full of innuendo talking about Trevor and removing what they consider to be a cancer.

Naturally the scene also includes a lot of sexuality and we can see Trevor is seething with anger seeing Aeon with another guy, they have this odd relationship of wanting each other and teasing each other sexually at every chance they get. The scene ends with Trevor taunting her to look at him and admit she wants him over the camera footage and we see that right as he says look at me she turns and looks at him. His face is full of shock, he thinks for a second can she actually hear me? For a moment his facial expression makes his reliance on living vicariously through surveillance look weak and timid.

She turns to him and taunts him with the fabric and he frantically searches for the envelope, realizing that it is gone he makes a run for it and we zoom in on the key resting on the bed letting us know this will come into play in the next few scenes. Thats one thing to notice that ending it by showing us the key raises questions as to how the key will be used further in the episode.

We get a street view of Aeon as she looks up at his penthouse, seeing noone there and making a run for it towards us. We then see that the sounds of feet running at the beginning of the scene was trevor as she runs past a trashcan she knocks it over to distract him and he jumps over it and pursues her down an alley. She makes her way down into the sewer and when she has made it to the safe ground in the sewer she stops and looks back and waits for him to start chasing her again.

We then see why she did this because it was meant to be a distraction as we see Trevor follow Aeon, we then zoom back out and get a shot of the penthouse again. Our next shot is in the penthouse as Gildamere comes in to suspect what is going on and we are given a clear shot of the key on the bed. He looks around the room and we get a clear shot of him with the key on the bed and as he reaches for it he falls into the secret room below the bed.

Now hes in the secret room and we see Gildamere find Clavius and think for a moment about releasing him or using the key to open him as he asks "What did Trevor do to you?" He observes and looks inside the peephole in the mans chest and decides to do nothing.
