Aeon Flux "utopia or deuteranopia?" Epsidoe Analysis part 4
We fade into a new scene of Trevor tied to some sort of bondage apparatus where he can watch Aeon's sexual transgressions against him. We start with a shot close up on his eyes before getting a full shot of the apparatus he is tied to and we see this apparatus has a place for him to watch Aeon from. Aeon sits back in her chair and we get an over the shoulder view of the wall he is at and it looks like some kind of electrical cord and apparatus are connected right where the crotch would be of Trevor.
Cut to outside we see a soldier walking around and checking his watch to see the time, looking around to make sure no one is watching before walking into the dungeon where Aeon is waiting for her pedicure from him. Its important to note here that the colors of the interior and exterior places are consistent over the episodes. The insides have a cold blue feel to them while the outside usually has a high contrast color like orange or yellow with red clouds to illuminate the sky.
This casualness of him walking in and pruning himself along with her moans makes this another scene filled with sexual euphemisms. We see shots of Aeon enjoying herself looking at him from across the room, while Trevor looks to be seething in anger. She enjoys torturing him and the whole show seems to be some sort of twisted foreplay going on between the two of them.
Eventually Gildamere reappears and we see the other guard run out of the room embarrassed that someone saw him. Gildamere informs Aeon of Clavius and gives her the key before Aeon decides to tease Trevor both with the new information she has just found but also getting sexual with Gildamere. Gildamere makes his way down but runs into a belt that requires the key he gave her in order to open her panties. "Think of it as a challenge" she says and Gildamere changes his mind and decides to leave. We end this scene with Aeon discovering that trevor escaped via a lighter that burns on the ground.
Just like with most scene changes we see our establishing shot as being outside of a location before looking in. So we get another shot of Trevors penthouse, like most shots it is us looking up at it which makes it feel larger than life. Trevor sits with his back to the tv paused to a previous scene of Aeon with Gildamere in the hospital and we see the envelope laying on the bed with the fabric hanging out he is again seething with jealousy and anger. He ends this scene with him picking up the fabric and rubbing his fingers on it.
Its at this point when we then cut to him in the overalls that transport him into some other parallel world that the fabric was the dress dimensions of Aeon. As he opens his eyes with the jumper overalls on he sees that Clavius is already pried open and waiting. This is significant because at this point Aeon is the one with the key, so this is another way in which it tells us something else has happened outside of what we have seen.
How did Aeon get here we dont know, but that is partly what makes this show feel like a dream. Characters wander in and out of areas that dont feel like they logically connect with one another. We see Trevor pull his gun out and march his way into Clavius, as he runs his finger becomes more and more elongated and the repetition of patterns in music feels like you are being lulled into a hypnotized mindset. He reaches the red curtains and finds Aeon admiring the dress he got for her along with their room before it fades to black.
