Aniforce illustration analysis

This artist I found on pinterest, I searched around and it seems to be this artist.

Form, Composition and perspective
Below is a breakdown of the main forms that caught my eye in this piece. What I noticed about this piece immediately is that the ellipses of the arms in the foreground have a drastic shift in their size as they go up  and disappear behind the characters perspective. This happens to both arms and it feels intentionally cropped to keep the illusion of perspective from breaking. Next what we have is a shotgun which is more like a multitude of boxes and a cylinder that points off to the left of the piece. I have to make a visual note that these ellipses are not that much smaller at the top then the bottom. IT is slightly but the perspective on it is not drastic so we are able to see more of the side of the shotgun.

The buildings in the background and the inside shape of the car tells me that this is again a 3 point perspective, its just not as drastic as the last piece I've analyzed. On the right side of the piece we see the leg of a man sticking upward where we see that again the perspective is not too drastic but we can tell we are looking slightly up at the leg as it pushed the face of the zombie upwards. Again the perspective is shown here in that we see slightly under the face. Its also important to recognize that the image has a slight dutch tilt which adds to the dynamic feel of the piece.

Other examples of how to make this image dynamic come from the hands on the right reaching diagonally across towards our main focal point the girl. The girls expression allows us to connect with her terror and feel the image is overwhelmed with zombies. We can in a sense think of the figure in the foreground acting as a bridge from one side of the piece to the next. For example we follow the foot up and to the zombies, it draws our eye here because the light falls on the leg drawing it out of the dark.

The arms of the monsters point us to the girl who is positioned to slightly overlap and to contrast in value and color to the zombies. From here our eye has the chance to catch the zombies (and cats!) on the roof of the car and travel the other way to catch the scene outside before reentering into the foreground of the man with the shotgun.

Value
The highest value in the image falls into the top of the sky above our characters which gives a nice contrast and pushes the darker values forward towards us in the image. We can see this even in this part of the image it has some variety in the values with the touch of atmospheric perspective on the building and the birds that are a lighter value than I would have originally thought.

When we look at the zombie arms and the arm of the figure in the background we notice that their local color or value is more in the greys so that when the sun above hits them their skin does not become all one washed out tone that matches the value of the female. We notice here that the values of the girl are close to the values of the sky outside and because of this we know this is our focal point. One way to think of values is to think of everything except your focal point is grouped in some way to the surrounding values around it.

For example the value of the chair she sits on in shadow is close to the value of the interior of the car and the side of the chair that has been hit by light is closer to the value of the atmospheric building it touches that the interior of the car. She however is a generally much lighter value so she sticks out like a sore thumb. We also see that her gesture is shifted away from the zombies but feels like it is going to the right. This is mostly created in the motion of the lines in the hip. Thats not really related to value unless you think of her shirt shape as a triangle pointing back to the zombies.

Whats also interesting to point out is that we only get one side of her that is illuminated which cuts across her face dramatically and creates some nice shadow shapes around her arm and her legs.
