Nesmosfactory analysis

Composition

I picked this piece to study today because I really like the dynamic perspective shot we see in the piece. There is a lot going on here while at the same time it is impeccably organized to make it easy to follow and just get lost in this gorgeous cover by nesmosfactory on deviant art. One of the first things I noticed was the blue and orange color contrast with the yellow and orange taking center stage. The silhouette of the figure in the center has no lines unlike the other two figures which draws our attention to it. The drawing is also done is a very highkey, with values very close to one another that make the silhouette feel ghostlike.

Right in front of this character we see the Eiffel tower as it points us up to the sky and we see the dramatic 3 point perspective as we look up at buildings that recede into the sky towards what at first looks like an explosion, but on second appearance we get the realization that this city might be underwater since its not an explosion but its what the sun looks like from under the water. Giant mechanical fish float around the scene and we can follow them from being very close to us overlapping the buildings and gradually see them recede as they get closer to the water surface.

In the foreground we see an interesting pattern emerge when we see that the one closest to us is in the top right corner which points us gently back into the image. The strong black shapes in these 3 figures are not found elsewhere in the painting and this makes them feel closer to us. Here we can see a stairstep rhythm as we see the one closest to us and then one a little bit further on the left and then another further on the right, each one getting closer to the  girl in the center, so we have a zig zag pattern leading us here.

We can tell the girl is our focal point in so many ways, from the figures zig zagging and pointing to her with their hands to the leading lines pointing to her.All the lines pointing up originate on a similar plane to her and her silhouette directly connects and bleeds into the bottom half of the page where we see the title of the comic.
