Akanerobot analysis

 

Composition

The art I've really been drawn to lately is the super psychedelic and strange art, I love art that has a grasp of the fundamentals but doesn't feel like its hampered or restricted by the need to be realistic in any way. So today I introduce you to Akanerobot on Instagram which is a new account I recently came across. 

To me this piece looks somewhere in-between something that clearly had a strong yet simple composition that was then used as a jumping off platform to go crazy with the doodles. This guy has a series case of the doodles really. When we zoom in we can only imagine this artist is putting this together digitally and I would assume that by the use of repeating patterns that find themselves everywhere. For example we see stars emitting from the eyes as the stars shift in different perspectives and float up into the sky behind her. 

Interestingly some of these sit flat like a tattoo while others change their orientation in perspective subtly. Next another repeating pattern we have is  the squiggly lines that have 2 colors, close in value, layered around one another like a piece of candy. We can see this expressed in various forms and shapes some of them masked to look like tattoos covering her body while some, mostly at the top of the image actually start in the silhouette of the face and move out into the sky behind her.

Behind her we see rays of light in the form of these rainbows jutting out from her silhouette that contrast against the black backdrop. The closer we get to the edges of the canvas we see the incidents of random rainbow like squiggly lines are found more and more. We see also straight lines that move up and down the image as a contrasting shape and form. These random shapes also contrast against the main figure who has a well distinguished line art that encapsulates her, her hair and everything else. 

You can pretty much find all sorts of repeating patterns throughout this image in pretty much any location. Sometimes in the bottom you will see rainbow patterns expressed in small boxes that repeat over and over. 

By contrast we have this other beautiful piece which looks like a cat helmet of some sort that keeps all the details for the most part in the silhouette of the helmet. Throughout we see strange tie-dye like colors and forms that fall all over the form and the black on the "inside" of the helmet gives it a little depth and we can almost imagine that is some sort of presence in the helmet with these four disc like shapes changing in perspective in the space with the three most standing out from the rest of the shapes. Again here we see similar squiggly line like shapes that are found throughout the image.
